Background
I first heard about Nathan Hirsch back when he was running FreeUp, before their acquisition.
At the time, I was working for a software company and we were rapidly expanding an area of business. FreeUp was a ready source of talented contractors with vetted e-commerce skills. We found a pair of experts that bolstered our team, allowing us to accept more client work. It was exactly what we needed at the time.
Months later, after launching SellerSmile, I had the opportunity to participate in FreeUp from the other side, as a service provider. We were contracted by a merchant looking for help organizing (not replacing) their existing customer service team, tools, and processes. We won some more business and the client was happy too. Nathan and his parter, Connor Gillivan, created a great experience for both sides.
In my conversation with Nathan, we discuss what he’s up to now, three years after the FreeUp acquisition. He describes how he started EcomBalance and Outsource School during the pandemic, the nuances of bookkeeping and accounting for e-commerce businesses, and life as a new foster parent!
Nathan has a ton of energy and a passion for customer service, instilled during his time working at Firestone. He carries that with him today in the way he graciously caters to the clients, customers, and freelancers of his various companies.
